Out of the Last Stand – The Best Finale Yet!!

From Pilot to the horrible nightmare that Michael has just awaken from, we’ve seen just about every feasible threat to the burned spy and its a long-shot miracle that he & his friends and family were able to survive this one. And guess what? Unlike the last finale which started with Simon’s (terrorist) release to hunt down Mike, all the chaos started with a simple and small, yet dangerous “thumb-drive” containing a list of all responsible for Michael’s burn notice. Tyler Brennan, the part-time spy and nightmare of the ep., returned through the unfortunate death of Marv (Jesse’s handler). Afterwards of course, Jesse vouched to aim guns and take answers, but emotions weren’t the master plan in getting rid of Brennan.

Michael & Sam’s meet with Brennan was the most uncomfortable after two disappointments: The return of Larry (who would be working with Michael for Brennan) and the threat to release a very important audio tape to Vaughn pertaining the thumb-drive. This threat would be only acted upon if Michael didn’t meet Brennan’s demands which were to kill everyone on the list. After explaining to Michael and Sam, that’s when ole’ Larry showed up AGAIN hoping to see a smile on Michael’s face.

So, while Michael, Larry and Brennan discussed the tactics to killing/kidnapping the first victim, the team got to work trying to find where the thumb-drive was. After a couple unsuccessful attempts involving trying to trace a bouncing network ID, they managed to come through the roof on a business owner who installed the safe where the list was in. The frightened owner wasn’t gonna say a word about where he installed it, but Fiona with her frightening charm, along with a weapon , reminded him of his immediate problems. Once they got the address, Jesse quickly released a plan to….lets just say “decorate the walls with Brennan’s blood”. The plan was obviously not the best choice considering the audio tape, so the plan became to get the list unseen. Once the team observed the cameras at the place, there was no chance for being invisible.

After Larry killed the first victim on the list (wasn’t planned – Mike was upset), that’s when Michael told him where the list was. Larry’s

Larry's Deceiving Plan

deceiving plan came to life when they met up with Brennan shortly after. Brennan wound up with a knife in his chest and Mike wound up with a gun pointed at him all by works of Larry. The look on Michael’s face was pure shock and I’d only be thinking of how to stop the informing audio tape which unlocks the Gates of Hell.

The next step in Larry’s plan was to have Michael “come back to the nest flying solo” meaning that he wanted Mike’s friends to basically take a hike. So, Mike called Fiona with an influenced voice and ended with “honey” which was really a distress signal he used before. The team, after quickly discerning Michael’s phone hints, headed towards the list to get it before Mike and Larry. Jesse and Fiona with her explosives rigged the safe’s perimeter and managed to blow it out of the wall and retrieve it (not invisibly) before Larry and Mike came. Once they came in the room, Larry rushed to find the nasty hole in the wall and immediately started pointing the gun at Michael and asking where the safe was.

Larry is screwed...

What he had failed to accept was that Michael was with him the whole time. But all that gun pointing soon was useless to the red dot that was aimed at Larry’s chest. Turns out, Sam (the wet rag in Mike’s life according to Larry) had him through a sniper scope in a building miles away. One shot at Mike and Larry would be killed on spot. But Sam’s deal (discussed over the speakerphone) was that Michael would leave the room safely and soundly, fast or slow; and Larry would stay there with the gun and wait for the cops. A little harsh on Larry’s part, but it was his loss and his decision to kill Brennan.

Four hours until Vaughn would receive the audio tape, the team retrieved the list and Michael suggested everyone get rest. It would be and was a long day for all of them; and a very action-packed yet emotionally driven episode. Words can’t even capture the quality of this one, so why not have another few looks? More episodes and an awesome prequel movie starring “Sam Axe” are in the works for Spring & Summer 2011. I can’t wait to see the beer-drinking, former Navy Seal in some real tough action. Tune into Burn Notice Fanatic or USA Network for more updates to come. Season 4 Episodes are available at the download site for those who suffer slight to frequent Burner-withdrawal.

The “Last Stand” was so OUTSTANDING that I can’t stop watching it. I’ve come to understand Michael’s stand offish behavior with Fiona. It most likely stemmed from when he learned about the Fiona/Jesse kiss and thought she may be confused though Fiona said she wasn’t. My guess is that Michael felt that Fiona could find that more stable life with Jesse and so he decided to bow out. But in this episode, Fiona let it be known who she prefers. The underlying romance dominated the screen even though I was intrigued by the disappearing/reappearing bandage on Michael’s elbow and I LOVED his rooftop fight scene. “Plan B.” Sam’s last minute rescue and Madeline’s attempt to save Michael just made this the BEST SEASON ENDER EVER!!! But…WHY do Michael ALWAYS have to be lead off to somewhere? Every year he goes and comes back. Yesterday was the first day of Winter and new episodes start in the Summer…this is going to be hard!

Um… This synopsis is of the second to last episode, not the finale. Am I missing something?

Yes, the synopsis was already a little lengthy so I figured why not just give you the ep. to see for yourself…If you’d like “The Last Stand”, its available here:
